Waugaman Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team

Valparaiso University men’s soccer player Dylan Waugaman (Houston, Texas / Friendswood [Oregon State]) was honored for his excellence both on the field and in the classroom on Thursday as he was named to the CoSIDA All-District First Team for District 5.

Waugaman, a redshirt junior defender, owns a perfect 4.0 grade point average in accounting. He made 14 starts as part of a Valpo defense that permitted just 21 goals this season, a mark that ranked tied for eighth in program history for fewest goals allowed in a single season. He helped the team rack up six shutouts.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Waugaman was one of seven Missouri Valley Conference players honored. He became the second Valpo player in the last three years to receive CoSIDA Academic All-District, joining Suleiman Thomas (2016).
