Rose Named to Preseason All-MVC Team

Valparaiso University men’s soccer fifth-year senior midfielder Demar Rose (Kingston, Jamaica / Wolmer’s Boys Soccer) was recognized as part of the Preseason All-Missouri Valley Conference Team on Thursday.

Rose was a first-team All-MVC choice in 2018 and is one of four players in the conference returning in 2019 after receiving first-team honors a year ago. He didn’t skip a beat after missing the 2017 season with an injury, returning in 2018 to play in all 17 games and make 14 starts in the midfield while scoring one goal and striking 24 shots.

Rose scored a dazzling equalizer in a 1-1 draw at Evansville on Oct. 27 of last season, earning a point in the Valley standings that allowed Valpo to clinch an MVC Tournament berth.

The Valley also released its preseason poll on Thursday, with Valpo picked to finish sixth with 11 points in the poll. The team was one point behind Evansville, which was picked fifth. Missouri State received four of six first-place votes and was tabbed as the preseason favorite to win the conference.
