Crusaders Split Final Dual Meets of the Season

Valparaiso ended its dual meet season on Sunday afternoon by defeating Butler 99-64 but falling to Saint Louis 129-61 in Indianapolis, Ind.

David Peterson (Schererville, Ind./Highland H.S.) won a pair of events for the Brown and Gold on the afternoon. He was triumphant in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:58.79, a win by more than four seconds. The sophomore also cruised to a three-second win in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1;00.24.

Bob Pedersen (Urbana, Ill./Urbana H.S.) finished second for the Crusaders in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.33 seconds. Travers Smith (Huntley, Ill./Huntley H.S.) earned a runner-up finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.88 seconds as well.

Valparaiso finished the dual meet season with a 3-7 mark. The Crusaders will return to the pool Thursday, February 17 through Saturday, February 19 for their final competition of the year as they travel to Indianapolis for the House of Champions meet. Thursday's competition will begin with preliminary heats at 9 a.m. CST with the first night's finals beginning at 5 p.m.
