Valpo Home Season Ends with Loss to Wisconsin-Milwaukee

Valparaiso University ended its 2004-2005 home season with a 141-87 loss to Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon at the Athletics-Recreation Center pool.

The Crusaders started strong winning the 400 medley relay. David Kesler (Beverly Hills, Mich./Birmingham Groves H.S.), Bob Pedersen (Urbana, Ill./Urbana H.S.), David Peterson (Schererville, Ind./Highland H.S.), and Travers Smith (Huntley, Ill./Huntley H.S.) touched the wall in 3:43.99, .42 seconds in front.

Peterson also won the 200 individual medley by more than a second with a time of 1:59.46. He also earned first place in the 200 breaststroke with his time of 2:11.84. His time was six seconds in front of the field.

Smith took home first place in the 500 freestyle in convincing fashion. The sophomore's time of 4:54.84 was more than 13 seconds in front of his nearest competitor.

Valpo (2-3) will return to the pool on Saturday afternoon as the Crusaders travel to Charleston, Ill. for a 1 p.m. meet against Eastern Illinois.
