Crusaders Fall to Cleveland State

Valparaiso's men dropped a 130-68 decision Friday night to Cleveland State at the Athletics-Recreation Center pool.

Dan Cisek (Willowbrook, Ill./Hinsdale South H.S.) had the most impressive performance for the Crusaders, coming home in 10:24.67 in the 1000 freestyle. The time marks the best performance in the event by a Valpo swimmer this year, and moves Cisek into fifth place on Valpo's all-time list.

Travers Smith (Huntley, Ill./Huntley H.S.) finished as runner-up in two events for the Brown and Gold. Smith touched the wall in 1:47.80 in the 200 free and followed that up with an effort of 53.45 in the 100 butterfly. Travis Thames (Tucson, Ariz./Canyon Del Oro H.S.) placed second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.86, while the Crusaders' 200 free relay team also finished second, coming home in 1:32.61.

Valparaiso (2-9) returns to the pool Saturday afternoon, taking on Eastern Illinois at the Athletics-Recreation Center pool at 2 p.m. Please note this time is changed from the original schedule.
