Valpo Falls to Leathernecks on Saturday Afternoon

Despite two individuals posting a pair of victories each, Valparaiso dropped a dual meet to Western Illinois 178-107 on Saturday afternoon in Macomb, Ill.

Dave Peterson (Schererville, Ind./Highland H.S.) won the 100 breaststroke for Valpo in narrow fashion, posting a time of 1:02.74, just .04 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor. The senior was a double-winner on the afternoon, also posting a 10-second triumph in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:11.36.

Adam Jajtner (Port Washington, Wis./Port Washington H.S.) also posted a win in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:58.23. He finished more than three seconds ahead of the nearest Leatherneck. The sophomore also was a double victor with his winning time of 4:28.48 in the 400 individual medley.

Ansel Hillmer (Tampa, Fla./Hillsborough H.S.) earned a runner-up finish in the 200 butterfly with a mark of 2:06.17. Hillmer also had the second fastest time of the day in the 100 fly touching the wall in 56.06 seconds.

Valparaiso (1-7) returns to action December 1-2 at the House of Champions Invitational. Friday's action begins at 5:30 p.m. CST in Indianapolis, Ind.
