Valpo Wins Four Events in Quadrangular Meet

Valparaiso posted four event victories in a quadrangular meet on Sunday in Carmel, Ind. as the Crusaders defeated Butler but fell to Saint Louis and was edged out by Evansville.

Valpo downed Butler 119-84 while falling to the Bilikins 129-83. Evansville topped the Crusaders 110-102.

Dave Peterson (Schererville, Ind./Highland H.S.) posted a victory for the Brown and Gold in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:57.76, nearly two-and-a-half seconds ahead of his nearest competitor. The senior also own the 200 breaststroke by nearly two seconds with a time of 2:10.39.

Adam Jajtner (Port Washington, Wis./Port Washington H.S.) also was victorious in the 500 freestyle for the Crusaders, finishing with a time of 4:56.93.

The 400 freestyle relay also triumphed on Sunday, with a time of 3:21.41. Jajtner, Kyle Verage (Hubertus, Wis./Marquette H.S.), Dan Meals (Washington, Ill./Washington Community H.S.), and Cody Sowder (Lebanon, Ind./Lebanon H.S.) touched the wall in 3:21.41.

Valparaiso (1-2) will return to the pool on Friday for the Crusaders' home opener against Xavier (Ohio) beginning at 5 p.m.
