Bryan Morrison Resigns as Valpo's Swimming and Diving Coach
Friday, January 4, 2008

Bryan Morrison has announced his resignation as Valparaiso University’s head swimming and diving coach due to personal reasons effective immediately.

“We appreciate all of Bryan’s efforts and the improvements that we have seen in the swimming and diving program over the past three-plus years,” Mark LaBarbera, Valparaiso director of athletics said.

Morrison was named Crusader head coach prior to the 2004-2005 season.  In his three-and-a-half seasons at the helm of the Brown and Gold, his athletes have broken 25 school records, and currently hold eight of the top spots all-time on the men’s side and nine of the top times on the women’s side.  In addition, 16 athletes earned All Mid-Continent Conference honors, including six during the 2006-2007 campaign.

“Bryan’s efforts have resulted in numerous school records as well as producing outstanding students,” LaBarbera added.  “We wish him well in his future professional endeavors.”

Barbara Tyree will serve as interim head coach for the remainder of the season, with a national search being conducted for Morrison’s replacement upon the completion of the season.  Tyree is in her seventh season on the Crusader staff.
