Crusaders Defeated by Green Bay Thursday Night
Trevor Trimpe was a member of the winning relay and had a runner-up finish.

Taking to the water for the final time before finals and the holiday break, Valparaiso dropped a 176-83 decision to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on Thursday evening at the Athletics-Recreation Center pool.

David Sivak (Hobart, Ind./Hobart H.S.) earned the first individual victory of the night for the Brown and Gold, posting a time of 1:47.60 in the 200 freestyle, winning the event by nearly 2.5 seconds.  The sophomore also finished second in the 200 individual medley touching the wall in 2:01.15, just .16 seconds behind Green Bay’s winner.

Victor Sikorski (Valparaiso, Ind./Wheeler H.S.) also earned an event win in the 100 free, out-touching the Phoenix by just .05 seconds with a mark of 48.66 seconds. 

Valpo also finished the night in victorious fashion with a win in the 200 freestyle relay.  Sikorski, Austin Hunter (La Crescent, Minn./La Crescent H.S.), Trevor Trimpe (Connersville, Ind./Connersville H.S.), and Adam Jajtner (Port Washington, Wis./Port Washington H.S.) finished the race with a time of 1:30.86 for a half-second win.

Trimpe also finished runner-up in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 29.67 seconds for the Brown and Gold.  Sikorski also earned an individual second place finish on the night, finishing just .25 seconds off of the pace in the 50 free with a time of 21.38 seconds.

Valparaiso (0-6) will wrap up its three-meet homestand on January 24 when the Crusaders entertain UIC after taking time off for the holidays.  The first event against the Flames will begin at 1 p.m. at the ARC pool.
