Eight Valparaiso University student-athletes earned spots on the Horizon League Winter Academic All-League teams, as announced by the league office today. The men’s track and field team had three honorees from the indoor campaign, while men’s basketball and men’s swimming had two student-athletes recognized and women’s track and field had one honoree.
The Valparaiso men’s and women’s swimming teams closed out day number three at Oakland University for the 2016 Horizon League Championships Friday evening. The day’s events consisted of the men’s and women’s 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breaststroke, 100 back and 400 medley relay.
The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s swimming teams continued Thursday with day two of the 2016 Horizon League Championships at Oakland University. Day two of the championship meet included the men’s and women’s 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free and 200 free relay.
The Valparaiso men’s and women’s swimming teams kicked off the first day of the 2016 Horizon League Championships in Rochester, Mich. on Wednesday evening. Day one of the four-day league championship meet included a pair of relays for both the men and the women.
The Valparaiso men’s and women’s swimming teams celebrated their senior class with their Senior Day meet Saturday afternoon at the ARC, splitting the meet with Eastern Illinois. The Crusader men earned a 136-126 victory, while the EIU women prevailed 160-87.
Following the holiday break, the Valparaiso University men’s and women’s swimming teams returned to competition Friday evening, traveling to take on Horizon League foe Green Bay. The Crusaders would fall to the Phoenix by final scores of 141-95 on the men’s side and 115-83 on the women’s side.
The Valparaiso University men’s and women’s swimming teams concluded their three-day trip to Grand Rapids, Mich. at the Calvin Winter Invitational on Saturday evening, posting 20 top-10 times in program history over the last two days, including three school records.
