Crusaders Drop Opener to Ball State

The Valparaiso men's tennis team dropped its winter/spring opener to Ball State 7-0 on Saturday afternoon in Muncie, Ind.

The Cardinals won all nine matches on the afternoon.

The hosts began sweeping the doubles contests. Tyler Neemann (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson H.S.) and Nate Gordon (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth H.S.) were involved in the closest match at third doubles, falling 8-4.

In singles action, the Cardinals won five of the six matches in straight sets. Neemann took his fourth singles match to a third set, but dropped the super tie-break and the match 6-3, 4-6, 10-1.

The Crusaders will return to action on February 1 as the Brown and Gold takes on Michigan State in Kalamazoo, Mich. Match time is slated for 4 p.m. CST.
