Three Crusaders Named to Men's Tennis All-Conference Team

Valparaiso University had three men's tennis players named to the Mid-Continent Conference Second Team when the league announced its postseason awards on Tuesday afternoon.

David Bukowski (Mount Prospect, Ill./Prospect H.S.), Nic Kooyers (Holland, Mich./Holland H.S.), and Alex Lau (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson Senior H.S.) all were recognized by the Mid-Con for their play this season.

Bukowski earned All Mid-Con honors for the first time in his career after posting a perfect 4-0 mark in league play. He played anywhere from second through sixth singles for the Brown and Gold during his senior campaign, and posted 12 doubles victories on the season as well.

Kooyers played first singles for the Crusaders as a senior, and earned All-League honors for the fourth consecutive season. Kooyers won 13 total doubles contests, including a 9-4 mark at the second spot. He and Joe Venegas (Saint Charles, Ill./North H.S.) went 3-1 in league play as a duo.

Lau also earned All Mid-Con accolades for the first time during his career. A sophomore, Lau posted a team-high 18 singles wins, most at the third and fourth spots in the lineup. He went 4-1 in Mid-Con action and also played number one doubles most of the season.
