Bradley Defeats Valpo Friday Night in Men’s Tennis

Valparaiso’s men’s tennis team took to the road on Friday evening, dropping a 7-0 match to Bradley at the Markin Tennis Courts in Peoria, Ill.

Bradley (9-10) opened the match sweeping all three doubles contests.  Number one doubles was the tightest match of the day with the Braves’ duo of Justin Abrams and Juan Diego Cuadradro topping Chris Baum (Charlotte, N.C./Providence H.S.) and Adam Whitmer (Shipshewana, Ind./Westview H.S.) 9-8 (5) in a tie-break.  Ahmed Al Bitar and Hamish Weerasinghe were 8-5 winners over Eric Honert (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley H.S.) and Kevin DeHerrera (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield H.S.) 8-5 at the second spot.  At number three doubles, Egan Hart (Raleigh, N.C./Ravenscroft H.S.) and Michael Woodson (Raleigh, N.C./Ravenscroft H.S.) fell 8-3 against Arthur Romanet and Ashton Kalhorn.

Baum also went to a match tie-break at first singles before falling7-6 (4), 4-6, 10-1 against Al Bitar.  Honert fell 6-3, 6-2 at number two singles against Weerasinghe while Kalhorn topped DeHerrera by the same score at number three.  Whitmer lost 6-0, 6-1 to Cuadrado at fourth singles and Romanet topped Siddarth Mehta (South Bend, Ind./Clay H.S.) 6-3, 6-2 at fifth singles.  Abrams rounded out the lineup with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Woodson.

Valparaiso (6-8) will return to Horizon League action on Sunday morning, facing Green Bay.  First serve is slated for 10 a.m. in Wisconsin.
