Valpo’s Whitmer Named Herb Foster Sportsmanship Award Winner

Valparaiso University’s Adam Whitmer (Shipshewana, Ind./Westview H.S.) has been named the Herb Foster Sportsmanship Award recipient as the Horizon League handed out its postseason awards on Friday.

Whitmer, a senior, played fourth singles most of the season for the Crusaders, winning 13 singles matches.  He also posted victories in 12 doubles contests in 2011-2012.

For his career, Whitmer won 40 singles matches and 42 doubles contests, ranking in the top-10 in school history in both categories.

Whitmer is Valpo’s first Horizon League postseason award winner since joining the conference prior to the 2007-2008 season.
