Crusader Men Open Play at ITA Regionals

The Valparaiso men's tennis team kicked off action at the ITA Midwest Regionals in East Lansing, Mich. on Thursday with singles play.

Junior Eric Honert (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley) split a pair of matches on Thursday. Honert fell in his first match of the day to Northern Illinois' Simon Formont by a score of 6-3, 6-4, but rebounded for a 6-3, 6-2 victory in the back draw over Youngstown State's Dawoud Kabli. Freshman Lucas Waak (Manitowoc, Wis./Roncalli) also competed in the qualifying bracket on Thursday, but dropped a pair of matches, falling by identical 6-2, 6-1 scores to Cleveland State's Niklas Jonsson and Wisconsin's Jalavov Jakhongir.

The Crusaders continue play at the ITA regionals with doubles action on Friday morning.
