Emhardt Named Horizon League Player of the Week
Charlie Emhardt, who was named the Horizon League Player of the Week, is 5-1 on the season in singles play.

The Horizon League named Charlie Emhardt (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) its Men's Tennis Player of the Week Monday. This after the freshman earned both the C Singles and A Doubles championships at the Valparaiso Fall Invitational September 27th-28th.

Emhardt met little resistance in singles play as he lost no more than three games in any set. He defeated teammate Brian Hickey (Western Springs, Ill./Fenwick) 6-1, 6-2 in the final. Overall, Emhardt is 5-1 in singles action. Valpo's quartet of freshmen is a combined 23-9 so far this fall.

On the doubles side, Emhardt and fellow freshman Dave Bacalla (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) defeated Chicago State's duo of Sergiu Muresan and Mario Noboa 8-5 in the finals of the A flight to cap off a perfect 3-0 record at the Fall Invitational. Emhardt and Bacalla possess the most wins of any Crusader doubles combination thanks to a 6-3 record.

This is Valpo's first Player of the Week award since April 9th when Eric Honert (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley) was bestowed the honor.

The Crusaders wrap up the fall portion of their schedule next weekend in Columbus, Ohio at the ITA Midwest Regionals. The four-day event kicks off on Thursday, October 17th.
