Crusader Men to Face Rival Butler on Saturday in Horizon League Quarterfinals

            Valparaiso’s men’s tennis team will battle instate foe Butler on Saturday morning at 7 a.m. CDT in the quarterfinals of the Horizon League Championships which will take place at North Central High School in Indianapolis, Ind.

            Valpo (5-12, 1-5 Horizon League), the tournament’s sixth seed, fell 6-1 against Butler (11-11, 5-1), the regular season co-champions and tournament’s third seed, back on February 29 indoors in Indianapolis.  Kyle Stump (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth H.S.) earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory at sixth singles for the Crusaders to earn the Brown and Gold’s lone point in the match.

            The winner of the Valpo-Butler match will face the winner of second-seeded UIC (13-9, 5-1) and seventh-seeded Youngstown State (2-12, 0-6) at 12 p.m. CDT on Saturday.  The losers of the two quarterfinals will also battle in the consolation draw.

            Cleveland State (16-5, 5-1) is the tournament’s top seed and will face the winner of fourth-seeded Green Bay (11-11, 3-3) and number five seed Wright State (2-17, 2-4).
