The schedules for the 2013 Valparaiso men’s and women’s tennis seasons have been finalized pending time announcements.
The men’s team will open on January 21st against Western Illinois at The Courts of Northwest Indiana in Valparaiso. Home matches follow against Grace College and Chicago State before the Crusaders take the road for the majority of February. Included in that six-match road trip are Big Ten foes Northwestern and Purdue.
Valpo again will travel to Kissimmee, Florida for five matches over spring break. The Crusaders went 5-1 last March in the Sunshine State, its only loss a tight 4-3 defeat at the hands of Colgate University.
The Crusaders will open Horizon League play on Sunday, March 24th in Dayton versus the 2012 champion Wright State Raiders before heading back to Indiana for five straight matches at the Valpo Tennis Complex.
The women’s team will become familiar with Kalamazoo, Michigan early on as they open their season versus Dayton on Sunday, January 20th. The Crusaders will take on Western Michigan the following afternoon.
A return trip to Kalamazoo is in the cards for Valpo as matches against Ohio Northern and Kalamazoo await them on February 2nd.
The women’s team will jet out to Flagstaff for their spring break trip to take on Portland State and Northern Arizona University on March 16th and 17th respectively.
The Crusaders also begin Horizon League competition against Wright State on March 24th. The Raiders finished the 2012 season at 4-4 in conference play, 10-13 overall.
Three Horizon League opponents and two non-conference matches against South Dakota State and the University of Nebraska-Omaha comprise a five-match homestand from March 30th to April 7th.
