Purdue Pushes Past Valpo

The Valpo men's tennis team dropped their non-conference match to #69 Purdue Saturday afternoon 7-0.  

The number one doubles team of Eric Honert and Lucas Waak narrowly lost their match to Diego Acosta and Aaron Dujovne 8-6.  Meanwhile in No. 3 doubles, Michael Baiocchi and Michael Savaglio fell 8-1 in their match versus Mateus Silva and Arthur Dobradin.

In singles play, Honert took the first set of his match at No. 1 by the score of 7-6 but couldn't close out against Szymon Tatarczyk.  Honert dropped the second set 6-3, and Tatarczyk took the third set tiebreaker 11-9.  

At No. 2, Chris Baum lost to Evan Hawkins 1-6, 6-7 (4-7).  Pawel Poziomski beat Savaglio at No. 3 6-2, 6-4.

Acosta prevailed over Baiocchi 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.  In No.5 singles play, Aaron Dujovne knocked off Lucas Waak 6-0, 6-2.   Brian Hickey rounded up play with a 6-2, 6-2 defeat to Arthur Dobradin.  

Valpo's record now stands at 4-4, while Purdue improved to 9-2.

The Crusaders resume play next Friday in Milwaukee versus the Marquette Golden Eagles at 5:00 pm.
