Baum's Straight Set Victory Not Enough on Senior Day
Senior Chris Baum defeated Connor Andrews 6-3, 6-4 on Senior Day Thursday in his last home match as a Crusader.

Valpo came out on the wrong end of a 5-2 match to IPFW on Senior Day, but the Crusaders' lone senior, Chris Baum, won in straight sets at No. 2 singles.

The Mastodons (8-15) set the tone winning the doubles point 8-6 at No. 1.  The No. 3 doubles team of Michael Baiocchi and Daniel Etman won their match 8-5, after Baum and Danny Oakes fell 8-3 to make the No. 1 doubles match a winner-take-all.

The first point of the day for Valpo came at the hands of Baum who prevailed in straight sets over Connor Andrews 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.

Eric Honert won his 19th match of the year at No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Daniel Kang.

With a win on Saturday, Honert can tie Valpo's watermark for single season singles victories.  He would tie his own record from last year as well as Nic Kooyers's (2005-06).

Baum currently sits at 46 career singles matches won which will place him in the top-10 all-time at Valparaiso.

The Crusaders (11-11) close out the 2012-13 regular season Saturday at UIC at 2:00 pm.
