Bacalla, Schorsch Collect First Round Wins in Opening Day of ITA All-American Championships

Sophomores Dave Bacalla (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) and Jeffery Schorsch (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) got off to a solid start at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma, winning both of their opening round singles matches.

Bacalla blew past Michael Sosnowski of Oral Roberts 6-1, 6-4 in the first round matchup. The win advanced him into a second round match with Troy's Daniel Bustamante. Bacalla lost that match by a score of 6-3, 6-2.

Fellow sophomore Jeffrey Schorsch (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) also was victorious in his first round draw, outlasting Wichita State's Jocelyn Devilliers 6-7 (7), 6-3, 6-4. However, Schorsch fell in his second round match 6-3, 7-5 to Rishab Agarwal of Mississippi State.

Charlie Emhardt (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) lost to New Jersey Institute of Technology's Markus Schultz 6-2, 6-2 in an early morning opening round tilt.

Emhardt is pitted against Austin Peay's Iago Seffrin in a consolation match Sunday at 12:30 pm CT.
