Sophomore Jeffrey Schorsch (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) was named the Horizon League Men's Tennis Player of the Week Tuesday, following his 2-0 weekend in both singles and doubles play. This is his third such award.
On Saturday, Schorsch defeated Cleveland State's Joe VanMeter 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles after rolling past Nolan Marks/Ali Shabib atop doubles play with partner Charlie Emhardt (Carmel, Ind./Carmel).
In Sunday's 6-1 victory Youngstown State, Schorsch and Emhardt doubled up the Penguin tandem of Dawoud Kabli/Victor Pereira, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. He then went on to record a 6-2, 6-4 triumph in his No. 1 singles match versus Remi Chancerel.
The second-seeded Crusaders (20-6) will face the winner of #3 Cleveland State/#6 Detroit in the semifinals of the Horizon League Championship on Saturday morning in West Lafayette. First serve from the Schwartz Tennis Center is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. ET/10:00 a.m. CT.
