Men's Tennis Commit Nets State Title in Pennsylvania

Chad Kissell, who will begin his collegiate career with the Brown and Gold this fall, took home the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) Class AAA Singles Championship this past weekend after defeating Downington East's Michael Dickson 6-3, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3 in the title match at Hershey Racquet Club. TennisRecruiting.net currently ranks Kissell 63rd nationally following his perfect 25-0 season at Latrobe High School.

Kissell is also riding a 19-match winning streak in United States Tennis Association (USTA) play, a stretch spanning over four tournaments. He joins Brian Pecyna of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, as the lone newcomers on a Valpo team that returns all players from a 21-7 squad.

Pecyna carries a 218th national ranking according to TennisRecruiting.net. Additionally, he is ranked 27th in the Great Lakes region. The Glen Ellyn, Illinois native was homeschooled and will pursue a business degree while at Valparaiso. Pecyna has been sidelined since September with an injury.
