Juniors Jeffrey Schorsch (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) and Charlie Emhardt (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) added a doubles win and singles victories to their stat sheet Friday at George Mason. The 57th-ranked doubles team in the nation defeated the Patriots' top pair, 6-2, at No. 1 as part of a 5-2 victory at Montclair Country Club in Virginia.

Schorsch and Emhardt clinched the doubles point for Valpo after Dave Bacalla (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) and Lucas Waak (Manitowoc, Wis./Roncalli) won by the same 6-2 score versus James Lange and Aaron Capitel. Chad Kissell (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) and Kyle Dunn (Fond du Lac, Wis./Fond du Lac) were on the verge of victory at No. 3, but the Crusader wins at No. 1 and 2 ended their match against Tanner Baine/Andrew Curtis at 5-3.

Emhardt made quick work of Lange at No. 3 singles with a 6-4, 6-0 result. Kissell, who was bumped up to No. 2, rattled off a 6-2, 6-4 win versus Joe Hill.

Schorsch scored a 6-2, 6-2 triumph against Capitel at No. 1 singles to secure the match for Valpo. Garrett Gardner (Poland, Ohio/Poland) raked in another win at No. 4, dispatching Giuliano Buzoianu, 7-5, 6-2. The sophomore is currently on a seven-match winning streak in singles play.

Baine and Daniel Gutierrez salvaged two points for the Patriots at No. 5 and 6, respectively.

Baine went the distance with Dunn where the Mason senior emerged with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 win. Gutierrez also escaped with a third-set tiebreaker as he defeated Michael Savaglio (Kenosha, Wis./Mary D. Bradford), 6-1, 5-7, 10-8.

Valpo (10-4) will prepare for the 60th-ranked College of William and Mary (8-3) in its next match. The Crusaders and Tribe are scheduled to meet Saturday at 12 pm ET/11 am CT.
