Valpo's Distance Medley Finishes Second on Opening Day of AllTel Classic

The Valparaiso University distance medley finished in second place on day one of the AllTel Classic held in Findlay, Ohio on Friday evening.

The team of Kyle Jones (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso H.S.), Jeff Moscinski (Rockford, Ill./Christian Life H.S.), Nate Nunnelly (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso H.S.), and Aaron Crague (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central H.S.) finished with a time of 10:24.16, just two seconds behind Spring Arbor.

The 4x800m relay team of Kirk Heavner (Lincolntown, N.C./West Lincoln H.S.), Dennis Kabara (Chuka, Kenya/ Meru H.S.), Adam Wierciak (Ottawa, Ill./Marquette H.S.), and Jed Reisetter (Lewiston, Minn./Lewiston-Altura H.S.) finished with a time of 8:18.05, just missing the school record of 8:18.0.

Rick Wenger (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere H.S.) placed 14th in the 5,000m field of 43 with a time of 15:43.40.

On the infield, Matt Larson (Arlington Heights, Ill./St. Viator H.S.) led Valpo in the weight throw with his 20th place finish with a mark of 43'7 ¾".

The Crusaders will conclude competition at the meet on Saturday.
