Valparaiso University's Elliot Powell (Orange, Calif./Santa Ana H.S.) has been named the Mid-Continent Conference Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week following his stellar performance last weekend at the DePauw Tiger Invitational.

Powell turned in a school-record performance of 22.59 seconds in the 200m dash to take home second place on the afternoon and helped lead the Crusaders to a third place finish in the field of 22 schools. His time is the fourth fastest in the Mid-Con this season.

He also competed in the long jump for the first time this year, turning in a fifth place effort with a leap of 22'6 ¾". The distance ties for the second best in the conference this year.
