Saturday, March 26, 2005
Valparaiso University's Todd Goodrick (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester H.S.) opened the 2005 outdoor track and field season on a positive note Saturday afternoon, setting a new school mark and winning two events at the Mike Villone Invitational in Rensselaer, Ind.

Goodrick, the only Crusader competing on the weekend, set a new school mark in the hammer throw with a toss of 158'9" (48.38m) to better the old school mark of 153'7" set by Bryan Bell (Bellevue, Neb./East H.S.) last season. Goodrick won the event by nine feet.

The senior also won the shot put by just over three feet with a heave of 49'4 ½".

The entire Crusader squad will open up outdoor action on Saturday as Valparaiso heads to Greencastle, Ind. for a quadrangular meet against DePauw, Butler, and Indiana Wesleyan.
