Senior Steve Bartholomew (Valparaiso, Ind./Morgan Township) has been named the Horizon League Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the second time during the indoor season after surpassing his own school record in the weight throw for the third time this year at the Panther Tune-Up in Milwaukee, Wis. last weekend.

Bartholomew won the weight throw for the fifth time this season, registering a toss of 63’4”, better than eight feet ahead of the runner-up’s mark.  It broke the record that the senior posted at the Chicagoland Championships by more than 19 inches, and also set a fieldhouse record.  The senior also came just eight inches shy of provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Bartholomew and the rest of the Crusader squad returns to the track on Saturday, March 1 for the two-day Horizon League Indoor Championships in Kent, Ohio.  The first event is slated to begin at 8 a.m. CST.
