Crusader Men Compete at Hillsdale Gina Relays

The Valparaiso men’s track and field team tallied three top-20 finishes on the day as it competed at the Hillsdale Gina Relays in Hillsdale, Mich. on Friday.

Senior Steve Bartholomew (Valparaiso, Ind./Morgan Township) led the Crusaders with a fifth-place finish in the hammer throw. Bartholomew registered a mark of 190’7”, third-best among attached collegiate throwers in the event.

Valpo also posted two top-20 finishes in the long jump. Freshman Jarrett Mickens (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) placed 11^th with a season-best leap of 21’6”. Tom Heun (Brecksville, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) recorded a jump of 20’9 ¾”, good for 18^th place.

Valparaiso concludes action at the meet on Saturday, as the first event is slated to get under way at 9 a.m. CDT.
