Crusader Men Finish Sixth at HL Indoor Championships

On the final day of the Horizon League Championships, the Crusader men secured several top-ten finishes. Valparaiso finished the meet in sixth-place with 30 total points.

Milwaukee claimed first place with 158 points, edging out second-place finisher Youngstown State (143). Rounding out the remainder of the field was Oakland (81), UCI (63), and Detroit (51).

The majority of the Crusaders’ success came on the track. In one of the best performances of the day, Kevin Adamik (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) broke the school record in the Heptathlon, finishing the event with 4,094 points. Adamik placed fifth overall. Freshman Don Middlebook (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) placed sixth in the same event with 3,778 points.

Elsewhere, The Valparaiso ‘A’ 4x400-meter relay team finished fifth overall in the event. The squad of Antwon Hatchett (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central), Joe Holy (Bolingbrook, Ill./Joliet Catholic), Chad Brooks (Hobart, Ind./Hobart), and Andrew Butts (Clayton, Ohio/Northmont) was able to cross the finish line in 3:29.59.

Butts also placed sixth in the 400-meter dash with a season-best time of 49.77

Adam Bruno captured a seventh-place finish in the 1-mile run, nearly cracking the Crusader all-time record book with a season-best time of 4:16.55.
