Nunnelly and Crague both Post Wins at AllTel Classic

Valparaiso's Nate Nunnelly (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso H.S.) and Aaron Crague (Shererville, Ind./Lake Central H.S.) each posted event victories on Saturday as the Crusaders competed at the AllTel Classic in Findlay, Ohio.

Nunnelly recorded a .64 second victory over Crague in the mile with a time of 4:19.77 in the field of 50 runners. Crague brought home top honors in the 3,000m by nearly two seconds with a time of 8:40.38. In the other distance event on Saturday, Kyle Jones (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso H.S.) was Valpo's top finisher in the 800m, crossing the line in ninth place with a time of 2:01.23.

In the sprints, Raphael Awoseyin (Port Harcourt, Nigeria/Greater Tomorrow H.S.) turned in two top-ten performances for the Brown and Gold. In the 55m dash, the junior finished in eighth place with a time of 6.55 seconds after qualifying for the finals in tenth place after the preliminary heats. He also finished tenth in the 200m dash with a time of 23.14 seconds.

On the infield, Reed Williams (Scottsdale, Ariz./Charparrall H.S.) finished in a tie for fifth place in the pole vault after the freshman cleared 12'11 ½". Joshua Lee (Yellow Jacket, Colo./Montezuma-Cortez H.S.) earned a sixth place finish in the long jump with a mark of 21'4".

Most of the Crusaders will take next weekend off from competition with just a select few individuals competing at the Meyo Invitational being held in Notre Dame, Ind.
