Crusaders Run at Butler Twilight in Final Mid-Con Tuneup

Valparaiso ran for the final time prior to the Mid-Continent Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday evenings at the Butler Twilight Invitational held in Indianapolis, Ind.

Todd Goodrick (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester H.S.) finished in fifth place for the Brown and gold in the shot put with a toss of 48'5 ¼". Eric Smith (Portage, Ind./Portage H.S.) and Matt Larson (Arlington Heights, Ill./St. Viator H.S.) each were 11th in the throws. Smith earned the position in the discus with a toss of 142'5" while Larson turned in a 145'10" performance in the hammer throw.

On the track, Adam Wierciak (Ottawa, Ill./Ottawa H.S.) placed fifth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.27 seconds. Sean Barfield (University Place, Wash./Curtis H.S.) earned an 11th place finish in the 110m event crossing the finish line in 15.45 seconds.

After a week off for the Crusaders, the Mid-Con Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held on May 13-15 in Cedar City, Utah.
