Valpo Turns in Solid Effort at EMU Twilight

Led by the field events, Valparaiso turned in a solid showing on Friday evening at the Eastern Michigan Twilight Invitational held in Ypsilanti, Mich.

Mark Lincoln (Bellingham, Wash./Bellingham H.S.) led the way for the Crusaders in the javelin, finishing third with a toss of 157'2". Todd Goodrick (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester H.S.) placed fifth in the shot put with his heave of 52'3 ¼".

Joshua Lee (Yellow Jacket, Colo./Montezuma-Cortez H.S.) earned a fifth place finish for the Brown and Gold in the long jumps with his mark of 21'11". Steve Bartholomew (Valparaiso, Ind./Morgan Township H.S.) finished ninth in the discus with a mark of 137'6".

On the track, Wesley Kosko (Emporia, Kan./Emporia H.S.) earned Valpo's lone top-ten finish, placing eighth in the 200m dash with a time of 23.40 seconds.

Valparaiso will head to the Stan Lyons Invitational next Friday and Saturday as the Crusaders compete for the final time in preparation for the Mid-Continent Conference Championships.
