Valpo Takes Fourth Place at Pacesetter Invitational

Valparaiso took home fourth place Saturday at the Pacesetter Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind.

The Brown and Gold recorded 13 points over the two-day meet, good for fourth out of the five Division I teams competing. Indiana State captured the team title with 263 points.

Steve Bartholomew (Valparaiso, Ind./Morgan Township H.S.) followed up his record-breaking effort in the hammer throw Friday with another top-five finish Saturday. Bartholomew posted a mark of 147'4" in the discus throw for fifth place.

Rich Krupar (Elyria, Ohio/Midview H.S.) registered the only other top-ten finish for Valpo Saturday, coming home sixth in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:20.68.

Valpo returns to the track next Saturday, April 22, at the Central Collegiate Conference Championships in Ypsilanti, Mich., hosted by Eastern Michigan University. The first event is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. CDT.
