Ashley Billstrom (Hales Corners, Wis./Whitnall) posted the best finish of the three Valpo athletes competing at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. Friday evening.

Billstrom finished third out of a field of 14 runners in the 3,000m steeplechase, completing the course with a time of 10:56.38. The time is the fastest in the Mid-Con this season and is less than five seconds off of her own school record.

Chris Honig (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South [Indiana]) competed in the same event on the men's side, placing 12th in the 17-person field. Honig crossed the line in 9:27.46, the fourth-fastest time in the event in Crusader history.

Danielle Nunnelly (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) competed in the 5,000m run, but did not finish the race.

The majority of the Crusader men's and women's track and field teams will compete Saturday at the Miami Invitational in Oxford, Ohio. The first event is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. CDT.
