Valparaiso track and field head coach Ryan Moore announced today the Crusaders' schedule for the upcoming 2012-2013 campaign.
The indoor season kicks off on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Mastodon Opener, hosted by IPFW. The Crusaders will also compete the next weekend at Illinois State before taking a break for the holidays. Upon returning from the break, Valpo will compete six straight weekends at meets hosted by Grand Valley State (twice), IPFW, Youngstown State, North Central and Purdue. The indoor schedule leads up to the 2013 Horizon League Indoor Championships, being contested this year in Youngstown, Ohio on Feb. 23-24.
The outdoor slate begins on Saturday, Mar. 23 in Rensselaer, Ind. as the Crusaders compete at the Gene and Rose Edmonds Invitational, hosted by Saint Joseph's. Valpo's outdoor schedule includes meets hosted by Purdue, DePauw, Benedictine, Grand Valley State and Miami (Ohio). The schedule culminates with the 2013 Horizon League Outdoor Championships in Ypsilanti, Mich. from May 3-5.
There are also a number of possible meets open to Crusader athletes who qualify at a high level. Indoors, qualifying Crusaders could compete at Notre Dame or Arkansas, while outdoors, possible meets include at Stanford, the Mt. SAC Relays, the Penn Relays and the Drake Relays.
