Valpo Releases 2018-19 Track & Field Schedule

The Valparaiso University track and field program has announced its schedule for the 2018-19 season.

The indoor campaign begins on Friday, Nov. 30 as Valpo heads to Notre Dame for the Blue & Gold Invitational, a meet that features the host Fighting Irish, Detroit Mercy, Marquette, DePaul and Bethel. After the opening meet, Valpo will not compete again until the Sycamore Team Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 19. That event will be hosted by Missouri Valley Conference foe Indiana State in Terre Haute.

Next up on the slate will be the National Open hosted by Penn State in University Park, Pa. on Friday, Jan. 25 and Saturday, Jan. 26. Valpo athletes will be represented in a pair of in-state meets the weekend of Friday, Feb. 1 and Saturday, Feb. 2. The Meyo Invitational will occur in Notre Dame, Ind., while Purdue’s Fred Wilt Open will be held in West Lafayette.

After a week off from competition, Valpo will be back at it on Friday, Feb. 15 as part of the GVSU Tune-Up hosted by Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich. That will be the final competition before the MVC Indoor Championships, which will be hosted by UNI on Feb. 23-24.

The outdoor season commences on April 5-6, when Valpo participates in the Gibson Invitational hosted by fellow MVC member Indiana State. That meet will be followed by a trip to Champaign, Ill. on Saturday, April 13 for the Illinois Twilight. The RedHawk Invitational hosted by Miami (OH) will occur on Saturday, April 20 in Oxford with Valpo taking part.

The fifth annual Crusader Open is slated for Saturday, May 4 at Warren G. Hoger Track. That will be the final meet prior to the MVC Outdoor Championships hosted by Indiana State, which will take place in Terre Haute from May 10-12.
