Valparaiso's men's track and field team competed at the Stan Lyons Open on Saturday afternoon in Indianapolis in an unscored competition.

Nate Nunnelly (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso H.S.) turned in Valpo's highest finish on the afternoon with his eighth place effort in the mile. The redshirt-junior crossed the finish line in 4:25.60.

Freshman Kyle Jones (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso H.S.) finished in ninth place in the 800m run finishing in 1:59.59.

Matt Larson (Arlington Heights, Ill./St. Viator H.S.) registered the Crusaders top field event performance of the meet with his 12th place finish in the weight throw. Larson's turned in a best toss of 43'7".

The Crusaders will return to action next weekend (Jan. 31-Feb. 1) at the AllTel Classic in Findlay, Ohio.
