Valparaiso University's Rachel Janssen (Fort Wayne, Ind./Dwenger H.S.) capped off her fall season with a nearly perfect Saluki Invitational, and for her efforts was named the Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Week.

The freshman won all three of her matches at second singles and also won a pair of doubles contests. In singles play, Janssen posted a 6-2, 7-5 win over Eastern Illinois, came from behind for a 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 triumph against Southern Illinois, and downed her foe from Eastern Kentucky 6-3, 6-0.

In doubles action, she teamed with Mara Sonkin (Wheaton, Ill./Warrenville South H.S.) for an 8-5 victory at the second spot against Eastern Illinois. She also posted a win by the same score with Jill Dierberg (St. Louis, Mo./Lutheran South H.S.) against Eastern Kentucky.
