Evansville, Ind. - Evansville scored three unearned runs in the fifth inning as the Aces defeated Valpo 5-2 in a Governor's Cup game. Kevin Kutansky had an RBI single for the Crusaders (0-2).

Tom Starck (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing one unearned run in 6 innings. The senior lefty yielded four hits, while striking out seven and walking four.

Valpo scored a run in the sixth when Kutansky singled home Eddie Hannan, who had doubled. The Crusaders added another run in the seventh when Ryan Manthei doubled and scored when Evansville's third baseman committed an error on Jeff Rickert's ground ball.

The Aces extended a 1-0 lead with three unearned runs in the fifth.
