Valparaiso University men's basketball player Kenny Harris was released from the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) and has returned home. Harris, a sophomore who was hospitalized on April 11 after collapsing while participating in weight training exercises, was transferred to the RIC on May 11.

Valparaiso University basketball player Kenny Harris was transferred by ambulance this morning from the Intensive Care Unit of Porter's Valparaiso Hospital Campus to the Neuro-ICU at the University of Chicago Hospitals. According to Porter officials, his condition is still critical and has not changed from the time of admission. Harris, a sophomore, was admitted to Porter's Valparaiso Hospital campus April 11 after collapsing while participating in supervised weight training exercises.

Greg Tonagel, Valpo's director of basketball operations, was named head men's basketball coach at Indiana Wesleyan University. A former point guard at Valpo from 1998-04, Tonagel was part of six Mid-Continent Conference Championships.

A 30-8 run over the first 12 minutes of the second half helped Chicago State overcome a nine-point halftime deficit and the Cougars held on to defeat Valpo 72-67 in the quarterfinals of the Mid-Continent Conference Tournament at the John Q. Hammons Arena. Dan Oppland led the Crusaders (15-16) with 20 points.

Valpo (15-15, 10-6), which earned the third seed in the Mid-Continent Conference Tournament, will oppose sixth seed Chicago State on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
