Danielle Nunnelly (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso H.S.) turned in a season's best in the mile as Valparaiso University sent just two women to the Meyo Invitational on Saturday in Notre Dame, Ind.

Nunnelly finished in 19th place in the elite field of 35 of the top runners from around the Midwest with a time of 5:02.51. Her previous sesaon's best was 5:14.62.

Jobeth Schmiesing (Mankato, Minn./West H.S.) also competed for the Crusaders in the mile, placing 31st with a time of 5:17.80.

The Brown and Gold will return to action next Saturday as the entire team heads to the DePauw Invitational. Action begins at 10 a.m. CST in Greencastle, Ind.
