Head Coach Carin Avery today announced four incoming freshmen will be a part of the 2006 Valparaiso volleyball team. Kim Bukowski (Waukesha, Wis./West), Angie Porche (Lynwood, Ill./Thornton Fractional South), Valerie Bollenbacher (Bremen, Ind./Bremen) and Haley Wise (Mishawaka, Ind./Mishawaka) will join a Crusader program that has won three consecutive Mid-Continent Conference regular season and tournament titles.

Valparaiso played point-for-point with #16 California in its NCAA first round matchup, but the Golden Bears prevailed over the Crusaders 30-26, 30-24, 30-21 Friday evening in Madison, Wis. The loss closes out the Crusaders' season at 27-8.

Valparaiso heads to Madison, Wis. this weekend to participate in its third consecutive NCAA Tournament. Valpo will face off against Pac-10 foe California Friday at 5 p.m. in their first round matchup. The Crusaders are looking for their first tournament victory, having fallen to Nebraska in 2003 and Notre Dame in 2004.
