Valparaiso University's Betsy Rietema (Grand Rapids, Mich./Christian H.S.) has been named one of 29 recipients of a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship for the winter sports season.

Rietema just graduated with a degree in psychology and chemistry, and now plans on attending medical school.

A First Team Academic All-American as a senior, Rietema finished her career with the Crusaders fourth all-time in scoring with 1,276 points while ranking 10th with 594 career rebounds. She also is 12th all-time on Valpo's career assist list, eighth in games played, and third in free throws made.

Rietema was a First Team All Mid-Continent Conference selection as a senior after earning Second Team honors her junior season.
