Crusader senior setter Sara Hughes (San Antonio, Texas/Perrysburg [Ohio] H.S.) has been named to the 12-member Academic All-Horizon League Volleyball Team, as selected by the league’s faculty athletic representatives and sports information directors.

Hughes earns the honor after leading Valparaiso during the 2007 season with 1,025 assists.  She finished her four-year Crusader career with 2,582 helpers, sixth-most in Valpo history.  The senior also tallied 238 digs on the season and recorded seven double-doubles, second-most among Crusader players.  In the classroom, Hughes holds a 3.70 GPA as a math and secondary education major.  She earned Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Week honors on Sept. 25, and has been named to the Dean’s List at Valpo each semester.
