            Valparaiso University’s Ani Michl (Deerfield, Ill./Stevenson H.S.) has been named the U.S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Week.

            Michl scored twice for the Crusaders in Friday’s victory over Indiana State.  She put Valpo on top 1-0 just 14 minutes into the match and added an insurance tally with just over four minutes left.  In addition, she fired seven shots in two matches against Indiana State and Butler, five of which were on goal.

            In the classroom, the sophomore has posted a 4.0 grade point average as a nursing major.  She was named to the Mid-Continent Conference All-Academic Team as a freshman as well as the Dean’s List at Valpo.  She also earned semester honors both terms during her first year at the school.
