Saturday, October 27, 2007
Despite re-breaking the school record in the 200 medley relay on Saturday afternoon, Valparaiso lost a 136-77 decision to Wright State at the Athletics-Recreation Center pool in the Crusaders’ home opener.
The relay team of Shaunna Dangremond (Tucson, Ariz./Sabino H.S.), Amy Andracki (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect H.S.), Rachel Majercik (Schaumburg, Ill./Conant H.S.), and Jaclyn Krause (Rochester, Mich./Notre Dame Prep H.S.), touched the wall in 1:50.69, nearly a second faster than the previous school mark set last weekend.
“It is really nice to see us drop a lot of time off of the school record,” head coach Bryan Morrison said.
Krause won the 100 freestyle by .07 seconds with a time of 54.45 seconds while Andracki was second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.71.
Majercik also finished runner-up in the 100 butterfly while Becky Crabtree (Mason, Ohio/Mason H.S.) earned a second place finish for the Crusaders in the 50 freestyle with a time of 54.99 seconds.
Anna Orwick (Broadlands, Ill./Champaign Central H.S.) also had the second best mark in the one-meter diving with a score of 193.15.
Valparaiso (2-4) will return to action on November 17 when the Crusaders host Western Illinois at the ARC pool beginning at 2 p.m.
