Bartholomew Bests Field at Nebraska
Friday, March 07, 2008
Steve Bartholomew (Valparaiso, Ind./Morgan Township) won the weight throw Thursday afternoon at the Nebraska Last Chance Meet in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Bartholomew won with his third toss of the day, registering a mark of 65’7 ½” to lead the field of eight throwers. The senior surpassed 62’11” on each of his last five throws of the day.
“This is probably the best series of throws that Steve has had yet,” said Crusader head coach Ryan Moore. “He didn’t improve his mark from the league meet, but by winning, he stayed ahead of the others throwing here in the national rankings. He’s still right in the mix to earn an invite to the NCAA national meet.”
Bartholomew will now wait to see if he gets invited to compete in the weight throw at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. The meet is scheduled to be contested next Friday and Saturday, March 14 and 15.
