Thursday, November 05, 2009
Valparaiso senior outside hitter Angie Porché (Lynwood, Ill./Thornton Fractional South) was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District V First Team for the second straight season, as announced by CoSIDA today. With the accolade, Porché is now eligible for Academic All-American consideration.
On the court, Porché has been dominant again this year for the Crusaders, adding to her career legacy. The two-time AVCA Honorable Mention All-American and reigning Horizon League Player of the Year currently leads Valpo and ranks second in the league with 3.79 kills/set. She is just 41 kills away from 2,000 career terminations and surpassed the 1,000-dig milestone last week, becoming just the sixth player in Crusader volleyball history to register 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs for her career.
In the classroom, Porché maintains a 3.76 cumulative grade point average as a psychology major. Now a two-time Academic All-District honoree, Porché was named to the Horizon League Academic All-League squad last season. The senior has been a member of the league’s Academic Honor Roll all four semesters the Crusaders have been in the league, and has earned Dean’s List recognition and Presidential academic honors during her time at Valpo.
To be eligible for Academic All-District, student-athletes must hold at least sophomore status, own a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 and be either a starter or key reserve. District V consists of schools in Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ontario and Manitoba.
