Senior outside hitter Angie Porché (Lynwood, Ill./Thornton Fractional South) is one of 14 student-athletes that has been named to the Horizon League Academic All-League Volleyball Team, making her second straight appearance on the team.

Porché, a two-time AVCA Honorable Mention All-American and All-Midwest Region selection, earned her fourth consecutive All-League honor on the court this season.  She registered a team-high 447 kills in 2009, with her 3.79 kills/set ranking second among Horizon League players.  She also stepped up on the back line, tallying 314 total digs on the year, second-most among all Crusaders.

Porché closed her career as the Crusaders’ all-time leader in both kills (2,046) and attacks (5,171).  She also moved into Valpo’s all-time top-tens in both service aces (126, t-7th) and hitting percentage (.242, 9th) this season and became just the sixth player in Crusader volleyball history to pick up 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs.  Porché also holds four of the top ten single-season efforts in Valpo history in both kills and attacks.

In the classroom, Porché carries a 3.76 cumulative grade point average as a psychology major.  A two-time CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine First Team Academic All-District V Honoree, the senior earned Third Team Academic All-American honors this year.  The senior has been a member of the league’s Academic Honor Roll all four semesters the Crusaders have been in the league, and has earned Dean’s List recognition and Presidential academic honors during her time at Valpo.

To be eligible for Academic All-League selection, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher and have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour credits.
